2021 Performance Schedule

As your favorite community-based choral group, North Coast Chorale has planned a variety of concerts to entertain an audience as diverse as the Pacific Northwest.

To begin the season, the Chorale will perform the Lux Aeterna, which is Latin for Eternal Light. This is a Requiem Mass composed by Morten Lauridsen in response to his Mother’s final illness. It speaks of light, a universal symbol of illumination at all levels—spiritual, artistic, and intellectual. Additionally, this concert presented on April 9th, April 11th, and April 18th will include Easter choruses and arias from the Messiah featuring well known NCC soloists.

Although the Chorale typically does not perform during the summer months, on June 11th, June 12th, and June 13th, NCC will present A Belated 30th Anniversary. Song selections will include a variety of music genres such as sacred, gospel, and jazz; compositions that NCC has performed over the last 30 years. This concert is designed to augment other summer events such as the Astoria Music Festival, the Scandinavian Festival, and Astoria Regatta Festival. Partial funding for these performances has been received from the City of Astoria to promote tourism.

As does everyone else, North Coast Chorale hopes the 2021 holidays will be celebrated with their “usual” flare. Right after Thanksgiving, on Sunday, November 28th, NCC will present The Messiah Sing-along / Play-along, in which funds will be raised for the CCA Regional Food Bank. This is an annual event, which has raised over $12,000 since conception, to assist in the needs of the residents in Clatsop County.

The Chorale’s final concert for 2021 will be held on December 10th and December 12thThe Healer, composed by Karl Jenkins, was chosen specifically because it speaks of healing in both the spiritual and secular sense, healing of both man and earth through music and song. COVID has brought all of mankind, and the earth, to a need for healing. Due to a generous grant from the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition, NCC will present this cantata with the accompaniment of an orchestra.

North Coast Chorale invites you to attend all our concerts. We hope you will join us in celebrating the joys of singing and the joy of hearing.
